Privacy policy
Effective August 21, 2026. This page explains what Black Doctors collects, why, and how to see, change, or delete it.
What we collect
- Account data. If you are a clinician and create or claim a profile, we collect the account and profile information you give us: your name, credentials, license and NPI details, contact information, and anything else you choose to put on your listing.
- Clinician listings. If you also keep a profile on blackhealth.org, the portrait you uploaded there may appear on your Black Doctors listing until you replace or remove it.
- Contact form contents. If you use a contact form on the site, we collect the name, email address and message you type, and relay it by email to the person or team you are writing to.
What we never collect
We never collect or store patient health information. Black Doctors is a directory: it does not ask what condition you have, what you searched for in a way that identifies you, or anything else that would let us build a health profile of a visitor. We also do not keep identifying search logs; the demand data we do keep is aggregate and does not identify who searched.
Retention
We keep clinician account and profile data for as long as the account is active, plus a limited period after that in case the clinician wants to reactivate it. Contact form messages are relayed by email and not kept as a separate record beyond what is needed to handle the request. Affiliate click data is kept in aggregate form and is not linked back to an individual visitor.
Deletion and export
If you hold a member account, both are yours to do yourself, in the member area under "Security and your data". Ask for a copy and we email you a download link, good for 24 hours, holding your account details, your profile, your claim and its receipts, and the emails we have sent you.
Deleting your account removes your sign-in details, your email address and your claim straight away, and you choose what happens to your public profile. If we first found you on a public roster, you can leave the listing in the directory as an unclaimed roster listing, without your photo, your statement of identity, your heritage tags or the details only you added. Anything you changed in a field the roster also provides, your bio included, stays on the listing. If you want that gone too, have the listing taken off the directory instead. If you created the profile yourself, it is deleted with the account.
If you do not have an account, or you want to ask us anything else about what we hold, use /contact/ and we will handle it directly, usually within a few business days.
Cookies and consent
Black Doctors uses only the cookies needed to run the site, such as keeping you signed in. When you click a link to one of our affiliate partners, the click is counted from our own server, in aggregate, with no personal data attached. Where consent is required by law, we ask for it before setting anything beyond what the site needs to function.
In crisis
If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. Nothing on this page changes that.
