Learn more at <a href="https://www.jnj.com/medtech" target="_blank">https://www.jnj.com/medtech</a></p><p></p><p><b>Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations concerning all environmental rules, protocols, regulations and appropriate guidelines.</li><li>Create ways to keep workers and the general public safe from harm and design safe workspaces. Ensure that proper personal protective equipment [PPE] is available to all employees for all operations</li><li>Maintain recordkeeping and tracking of all safety metrics and incidents</li><li>Develop, implement, and manage safety programs & corporate safety programs (not limited to):</li><li>Lockout/tagout, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, Fire Prevention, Laser and Radiation Safety, Emergency Action Plan, Lab Safety and Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection Machine Shop Safety, etc.</li><li>Support environmental reporting and permitting requirements: SPCC, Tier II reporting, Triennial Reporting, Oil Spill Prevention Plan, Flammable Storage Permit, etc.</li><li>Oversee and surveille Hazardous Waste Management Plan. Ensure regulatory agency compliance i.e. labeling, containment, proper disposal, employee training, and documentation, universal waste program</li><li>Support occupational health programs</li><li>Respond to emergency situations, coordinating with emergency responders</li><li>Instill a proactive safety culture by implementing behavioral based safety initiatives including determining risks, potential hazards and development of mitigation controls</li><li>Develop, prepare, and deliver classroom instructions and "hands on" training (online and virtual training development)</li><li>Investigate all incidents and injuries to identify root causes and implement corrective actions</li><li>Support contractor safety program and safe work permitting</li><li>Support industrial hygiene programs and conduct sampling as necessary for chemical and noise hazards</li><li>Provide Field Team safety guidance such as radiation safety, respiratory protection program, training, etc., while being the point of contact for field inquiries</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>BS in Engineering or Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences required</li><li>Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in EHS role/discipline, experience in the manufacturing, research and development, pharmaceutical/biotechnology or laboratory setting is strongly preferred</li><li>Well versed in safety, environmental and health regulations (OSHA, EPA, MA-DEP, DOT, RCRA, etc.)</li><li>Experienced developing, implementing and overseeing safety programs.</li><li>Strong presentation, communication and training skills required</li><li>Must be able to travel up to 10% of time to Abiomed facilities, with potential for overnight travel 2-3 times per year, including internationally</li><li>Execute tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision</li><li>Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Preferred:</b></p><ul><li>Auditing experience preferred</li><li>Associate Safety Professional (ASP) desired, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) desired</li></ul><p></p><p>Johnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401k).This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program. Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits: Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year. Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year. Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year. Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year.
